Eva Mae Simmons was born in Palestine, Texas on September 19th, 1930 to parents Leroy & Frances Simmons, and raised by loving Aunt Julia Mae Moss. Moving to the Corsicana area, she met and wed Willie Joe Moss; and to this union, 8 daughters were born.
Throughout her life, she worked as a Respiratory Therapist and Teacher’s Aide. She retired from Parkland Memorial Hospital after more than 20 years of service. She became a member of New Bethel Baptist Church under Pastor Ernest Betts Jr., where she remained under watch care until her death. She departed this life on July 16th, 2020.
She is preceded in death by her parents Leroy & Frances Simmons, Aunt Julia Mae Moss, her brother Earl Garrett & daughter Hattie L. Moss. She leaves to cherish her memory 7 daughters: Eva Simon, Frances Sims, Annie Tyson, Ruby Whorton, Thresa Yost, Sylvia Moss & Bridgette Foreman; one sister: Julia Mae Johnson; grandchildren: Victor Majors, Kimberly Majors-Jones, Carmille Majors-Davis, William Majors, John Simon, Linda Moss, Shlonda McGriff, Harold Tyson, Shanna Davis (Cody), Christopher Whorton, Derrick “Glynn” Moss, Brittney Jefferson, David Yost, Brandon Yost, Brittney Yost, John Yost, Sharonda Moss, Byron Moss, TaShena Moss, Jimmy Blair(Shayla) and Tiffany Steptoe; great & great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
