Emanuel Wilson Jr Obituary

Emanuel Wilson, Jr. was born on September 18, 1950, in Timothy, Texas to the late
Emanuel Wilson, Sr. and Lura Dell Kelly Wilson. Emanuel departed this life on October
23, 2025. He received his formal education in the Corsicana Independent School
District and proudly graduated with the GW Jackson High School Class of 1969.
Following his graduation, he pursued and attained certifications in various trades and in
the field of drafting. During his high school years, Emanuel met the love of his life, his
sweetheart and best friend, Mary Joyce King. Their love blossomed into a lifelong union,
and they were married for 55 years. To this union two daughters were born, whom he
loved deeply: Shonna L. Franklin and Grashia L. Scott.

Emanuel was a man of extraordinary skill and ability — truly a jack of all trades. He
could repair, build, restore, and figure out just about anything. He was employed by Big
Brown Power Plant, Wolf Brand Chili, and Roadway Trucking before stepping out on
faith to establish his own company, Wilson Trucking. Starting with just three dump
trucks, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and build a legacy of strength,
integrity, and independence. Emanuel was a devoted and faithful member of Second
Mission Baptist Church, where he served diligently as a choir member, Deacon and
Trustee. One of his greatest accomplishments was serving as General Contractor
during the construction of the current church edifice — a true testament to his
craftsmanship, leadership, and love for God’s house. His favorite hymn was “Guide Me,
O Thou Great Jehovah”, and his favorite scripture was Psalm 24, which he boldly
recited with conviction. He believed in the power of prayer and made sure he prayed for
his family, friends, and community.

Emanuel poured deeply into his community. He provided a safe and welcoming space
for youth to gather, grow, and enjoy themselves. Through his TEEN Club, Game Room,
summer volleyball courts, snow cone stand, and “Kind’s Place,” he became a pillar in
the neighborhood. His famous “Crank It Up” contests drew young people from
Corsicana and surrounding cities — building connection, joy, and lifelong memories. He
never met a stranger. Everyone was family. He cherished his two grandchildren, W.
Cameron Franklin and Kristlyn M. Landfair, and he had a special love and respect for
his devoted sons-in-love, William Earl Franklin and Timothy Earl Scott. Emanuel was
preceded in death by his parents Emanuel Wilson, Sr. and Lura Dell Kelly Wilson and
siblings: Estella Albert (George), Nellie Robinson (Billy), Larry Wilson (Ruthie), and
Patricia Wilson. He leaves to forever cherish his legacy: his loving wife, Mary Joyce
King Wilson; daughters Shonna Franklin (William) and Grashia Scott (Timothy) ;
grandchildren Cameron Franklin and Kristlyn Landfair; siblings Alma Robinson (Leon),
Harold Wilson (Glory), Walter Wilson (Lula), Sharron Ballard (Kenny), Darron Wilson,
Clay Wilson (Lamesa), and Renita Hollie (Don); Special Friends, Gary Montgomery,
Wayne Hawthorne, Thomas Douglas, Jarrine Wilborn and a host of nieces, nephews,
extended family, church family, and friends.
