Edward Charles Watkins, 70, transitioned peacefully on February 4, 2024, at Charleston
Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He was one of the 10 blessings that was birth from Doris
Nell Roberson and Willie T. Watkins, Sr. Edward C. Watkins was born on May 17, 1953, in
Ferris, Texas. He attended Ferris High School, Class of 1971. He loved the Lord and accepted
Christ at an early age.
Edward moved to Dallas, Texas, after high school and started his career at H. T. Ardinger & Son
Company, where he worked from the age of 19, until he retired in 2004 after 32 years.
He was joined in holy matrimony to Peggy Henderson on May 16, 1987.
Together they joined their children Sean Lynn, Tyron Ludd, Arrenda King, Kanika Henderson,
and Edwena Henderson. In 2010, Edward and Peggy joined the “Exciting” Singing Hills Baptist
Church. Over their 37 years of marriage, they created memories of a lifetime with family and
friends at pool tournaments, family gatherings, holidays, church fellowships, and many other
moments. They continued making their memories until Edward’s health declined to permanent
care, at Laurenwood Nursing and Rehabilitation, in 2016. Edward’s fondest moments stemmed
from spending time with his family and friends while listening to his favorite music, blues.
He was preceded in death by his parents Doris Nell & Willie T. Watkins, Sr., siblings: Robert
Earl, Bobbie Johnson, Cynthia Watkins, Willie T. Watkins, Jr., Vernell Hollie, Minne J. Brooks,
Alice Faye Wiley, Mackey Ray Watkins. He leaves behind cherished and precious memories
enriched with love, devotion, and happiness to wife Peggy S. Watkins, siblings: Carolyn Betts
(Ferris, Texas), Terry Robinson (Ferris, Texas), and Ryan Watkins (Stuttgart, AR), sons: Sean
Lynn (Shawna Randall, Desoto, Texas) and Tyron Ludd (Dallas, Texas); daughters: Kanika
Henderson (Dallas, Texas), Arrenda Coleman (Cedric Coleman, Dallas, TX), Edwena Dunbar
(Kennard Dunbar, Clarksville, Tennessee), eleven grandchildren Shavondria, Eunique, Amarea,
Jaelon, Tyron, Jada, Miracle, Jeremiah, Nevaeh, Kalia, and Kennard, Jr.; six great-
grandchildren Malachi, King, Journey, Baeleigh, Royal, and Bella; and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, and friends.
